A Little Can Make a Big Difference

Vanuatu Women’s Centre (VWC) was grateful to welcome Rachel Walker and her little family from New Zealand, who were visiting Vanuatu on holiday and chose to give back to the community.

On Friday, 7th August, 2026 the family generously donated 12 little bags of children’s goods, including items that will support children who access VWC’s services.

Vanuatu Women’s Centre’s mission is to work towards eradicating violence against women and children through tools and strategies that empower, uplift and support victims and survivors of Domestic violence. For more than 33 years, VWC has been a voice for women and children, leading community-based change that honours culture and works to ensure that no woman or child is left behind.

During their visit, the family learned that VWC is working towards creating a safe children’s space with books, toys and other child-friendly resources.

The family shared:

“Our small family is currently here on holiday with the intention to give back and serve others however we can. Vanuatu Women’s Centre is currently wanting to create a safe children’s space within their main hub in Port Vila, with books and toys, and we want to help.”

Today VWC received the donation; they have launched a small fundraising effort among their friends, whānau and wider community in New Zealand, inviting people to contribute towards creating this safe space for children.

VWC sincerely thanks this generous family for their kindness, compassion, and support. Your contribution reminds us that even a small act of generosity can create meaningful change for children and families.
