Courtesy Visit from Women’s Organisations from New Caledonia and French Polynesia

On Thursday, 6 August 2026, the Vanuatu Women’s Centre (VWC) had received

a delegation from women’s organisations in New Caledonia and French Polynesia.

The delegation engaged in an open meeting with VWC management and staff to gain a deeper understanding of the organization’s ongoing programmes, services, and efforts to prevent violence against women and children across Vanuatu.

The visit provided an important opportunity to share experiences and insights, and discuss common goals in supporting and empowering women and children across the Pacific.

The discussion also included key findings and insights from the Vanuatu Second National Survey on

Women’s Lives and Family Relationships 2024, highlighting the importance of research and evidence

in strengthening programmes, advocacy, and services for women and children in Vanuatu.

The presentation was part of the dynamic initiated around the “Flame of Peace”, a project originally carried out by the Women’s Council of New Caledonia under the impetus of Mrs. Mékétilité Cuer. A powerful symbol of unity, peace and mobilization for women’s rights in the Pacific.
