Committees Against Violence Against Women (CAVAW)
Local women and men, trained and united to end violence—right in their own communities.
Vanuatu Women’s Centre supports 39 active CAVAWs across Vanuatu’s islands. These volunteer-led committees are based in rural villages and settlements, working at the grassroots to:
-
Raise awareness on women’s and children’s rights
-
Prevent violence through education and village-based talks
-
Support survivors by linking them with VWC and services
-
Guide families on peaceful solutions and justice pathways
-
Partner with chiefs, churches, youth, and health workers
Every CAVAW member receives training and ongoing support from VWC. These groups are vital to reaching women and children in remote locations where formal services are limited.
“Violence is not our kastom. Together we can protect and uplift our women and girls.”
