VWC Information Booth at Korman Cricket Field

The Vanuatu Women’s Centre (VWC) successfully conducted a three-day information booth at the Vanuatu Cricket Field in the Korman area from 23 to 25 March 2026. The activity was organized as part of the Appeal Against Violence program, aimed at raising awareness about violence against women and children, promoting gender equality, and providing information on support services available through the Centre.

Throughout the three days, VWC staff actively engaged with women (“mama”) from different communities, including those from rural areas who participated in the cricket competition, as well as school children and passers-by. Information, education, and communication (IEC) materials—including calendars, posters, and brochures—were distributed, covering key topics such as domestic violence, sexual assault, child protection, and legal rights.

Many community members visited the booth to ask questions, seek guidance, and learn more about the counselling

and support services offered by VWC. The presence of the booth also strengthened the Centre’s visibility within the community and encouraged open conversations about breaking the silence surrounding violence.

The event further highlighted the power of sport in bringing communities together to promote respect, safety, and equality for all.

The Australian Government supported this Appeal Against Violence program through the Team Up initiative, which the Vanuatu Cricket Association implemented in partnership.
