From March 17 to 28th, 2025, the Vanuatu Women’s Centre (VWC) conducted the VWC Research & Data Interpretation Workshop, facilitated by Dr. Juliet Hunt. The workshop brought together VWC’s Team Supervisors and experienced staff to analyze key findings from the 2nd National Survey on Women’s Life’s and family relationships that as carried out in 2024 along with the assistance of Vanuatu National Statistics Office (VBoS).

The workshop aimed is to:

  • Equip staff and branch offices with a deep understanding of the research findings for effective communication locally and internationally.
  • Contextualize data using first-hand experiences from Vanuatu.
  • Assess the effectiveness of current VAWC prevention and response strategies and develop recommendations.

VWC staff discussed intimate partner violence, non-partner violence, attitudes toward Violence Against Women, women’s coping strategies, and risk factors. They also compared findings with a 2009 study, offering insights into trends over time and reflecting on the two-weeks workshop.

The workshop’s outcomes will contribute to future advocacy efforts, support services, and policy recommendations aimed at combating VAWC in Vanuatu.
