VWC Celebrates Children’s Day and Strengthens Partnership with Vanuatu Cricket Association
On Friday, 17 July 2026, the Vanuatu Women’s Centre (VWC) celebrated Children’s Day at Independence Park.
The event brought together Year 7 and Year 8 students and teachers from Vila East School, representatives from the Australian High Commission, and the Vanuatu Cricket Association to celebrate Children’s Day and promote the rights and protection of children.
The program included official remarks from the VWC coordinator, a representative of Vila East School, and a representative of the Australian High Commission. During the event, the VWC Coordinator also presented a donation to Vila East School.
A key highlight of the celebration was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Vanuatu Women’s Centre and the Vanuatu Cricket Association, marking the beginning of a strong partnership under the Appeal Against Violence Program. Through this partnership, both organisations will work together to:
- Prevent violence against women and children and address gender-based violence.
- Promote respect, equality, and social inclusion.
- Prevent bullying.
- Protect children and raise awareness about child safety and the prevention of child abuse.
Following the formal program and signing ceremony, VWC conducted an interactive awareness session with the students, highlighting the importance of children’s rights, safety, and protection. Senior players from the Vanuatu Cricket Association also organised engaging cricket activities for the students as part of the Vanuatu Team Up Program, making the day both educational and enjoyable.
