VWC Joins Multi-Agency Meeting to Strengthen SGBV Referral Pathways
On 13 August 2026, the Vanuatu Women’s Centre’s sub-center, Sanma Counselling Centre (SCC) participated in a multi-agency meeting hosted by the Vanuatu Association of Public Justice Practitioners (VAPJP) at the VNPF Conference Room.
The meeting followed up on discussions held in September 2025 on the One Stop Shop approach and focused on strengthening collaboration and referral pathways for survivors of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV).
A key focus was the SGBV Referral Pathway Matrix, which aims to improve coordination among service providers and support survivors to access timely and appropriate services and justice.
During the meeting, SCC shared some of the challenges faced when supporting clients, including difficulties accessing medical reports and medical services, as well as concerns regarding the response of some services when survivors seek assistance.
The meeting provided an opportunity for participating agencies to identify gaps in the current referral system and discuss practical ways to improve coordination and professional support for SGBV survivors.
Partners also discussed establishing a committee to strengthen coordination and ensure agencies work together more effectively. The establishment of the committee will be discussed at a future meeting.
A total of 15 participants attended — 8 women and 7 men.
